We have robust processes to make sure that our business is run responsibly.
Responsible Business activities are primarily governed by our Safety, Health, Environment, Security and Ethics Committee and the Centrica Executive Committee. It helps the Board to make sure that the risks related to responsible business activities are properly managed. Find out more in Board Governance.
In 2018, we engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (‘PwC’) to provide assurance that our responsible business activities met the required international standards. PwC has provided an unqualified opinion in relation to 19 key performance indicators for the Annual Report and Accounts 2018.
Rather than publish all our performance in one document at one time, we share our performance throughout the year in tailored communications that meet our stakeholder needs.
In April, we publish a strategic update of our responsible business activities within the Annual Report. This is supported by wider reporting and communications on our website, including a Data Centre containing over 100 non-financial and financial metrics, as well as case studies and blogs.
To inform our reporting, we use external guidelines and frameworks. These include the EU Non-Financial Reporting Directive (EUNFRD), the International Integrated Reporting Framework (IIRC), the Taskforce for Climate-Related Disclosure (TCFD) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Tailored Stakeholder Communications
We provide tailored stakeholder communications for those who want more detail on specific issues. For example, every year we complete a report on climate change and water scarcity for CDP, an international charity which runs a global environmental impact disclosure system.
